RELEASE: Blackhawks Sign Teuvo Teravainen to Three-Year Deal

Former first-round pick, member of Chicago’s 2015 Stanley Cup team returns on three-year contract

The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Teuvo Teravainen (TAY-voh tair-uh-VIGH-nehn) on a three-year contract that runs through the 2026-27 season ($5,400,000 salary cap hit).

“We’re thrilled to have Teuvo back in Chicago,” Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson said. “He was a big part of our 2015 Stanley Cup team and we’re excited to have his leadership and experience back in our room.”

Teravainen, 29, compiled 53 points (25G, 28A) in 76 regular-season games with Carolina in 2023-24. The forward established new career highs in goals (25) and game-winning goals (4). He also registered six points (2G, 4A) in 11 postseason contests with the Hurricanes.

The 5-foot-11, 191-pound forward returns to the Blackhawks after originally being selected by Chicago in the first round (18th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft. He has amassed 459 points (155G, 304A) in 670 career NHL regular-season games over 11 seasons with Chicago and Carolina, including 44 points (17G, 27A) in 115 regular-season games in a Blackhawks sweater. He’s also earned 50 points (23G, 27A) in 90 career postseason tilts. Teravainen has earned 11 points (4G, 7A) in 25 postseason contests with Chicago and helped the team win the 2015 Stanley Cup.
