Devastating News| Coventry City Midfielder Exit team: Details…
Coventry City Midfielder Linked With Summer Exit
Coventry City have had a busy summer transfer window, but could things be about to change as one of their midfielders is linked with a summer exit?
The Sky Blues got off to a disappointing start to their Championship campaign, losing 1-0 to Stoke City in a fixture where Mark Robins’ side struggled to control the midfield.
Mark Robins’ men are back in action on Tuesday evening as they make the trip to Bristol City backed by a sold-out away end in the EFL Cup, but one of the first-team players won’t be involved amidst reports of a potential exit.
Midfielder set to exit Coventry
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Coventry City midfielder Ryan Howley is attracting interest from League Two side Swindon Town ahead of a potential loan switch to the fourth tier.
Howley isn’t likely to feature for Coventry in their EFL Cup game this evening, due to him starting for the club’s U21s during their Professional Development League opener against Queen’s Park Rangers on Tuesday afternoon.
How did Howley fare last season?
The 20-year-old began pre-season by putting pen to paper on a new contract with the Championship side, setting him up for a potentially successful season.
Howley spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with SPFL side Dundee but did make a brief appearance for the Sky Blues during their EFL Cup defeat against AFC Wimbledon.
In Scotland, Howley made 14 appearances for Dundee, including starts against Celtic and Rangers as well as being selected to represent Wales’ U21s, though he didn’t manage to make a further appearance.
What would the midfielder bring to Swindon Town?
The 20-year-old burst onto the Sky Blues scene as a midfielder but also has been playing regularly as a centre-back, which would add improved versatility and squad depth to the League Two side.
Despite making a handful of appearances, Howley had limited starts and is likely to want regular first-team football in League Two.
Similarly, his experience against sides like Rangers and Celtic could be extremely beneficial for the Robins, following their opening day draw against National League champions Chesterfield.
