Leeds United want to sign Michael Lang in free transfer as deadline approaches
Leeds United are interested in signing Michael Lang on a free transfer, according to Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported on 18 August that the Whites could sign the former Switzerland international right back for nothing.
Daniel Farke’s side have “expressed an interest” in signing the 33-year-old, before the 30 August transfer deadline, who was released by Basel at the end of the season.
Leeds United interested in signing Michael Lang
After losing Archie Gray earlier in the window, Leeds have lost cover in the right back position as well as central midfield.
It is safe to say that it would be going from one extreme to another in terms of age to replace the youngster with Lang.
The 33-year-old would add Champions League experience to the squad at Elland Road given that he scored the winner against Manchester City in 2018 [transfermarkt].
The former Basel man also has 31 caps for Switzerland which proves the level of players the Whites could get their hands on.
Although this won’t be a move to excite fans necessarily, the full-back could prove to be a useful member in the dressing room at Elland Road.
To be able to bring in an international player with experience at the top level could be smart from Farke although attacking reinforcements should be a more pressing matter right now.
