Leeds United want Hannibal Mejbri in new Manchester United transfer
Leeds United are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on Wednesday (21 August, page 61) that, while Leeds are keeping an eye on the 21-year-old, Burnley are in pole position to land his signature.
Mejbri spent the second half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan with Sevilla, where he played just six times before returning to Old Trafford.
Leeds United to sign Hannibal Mejbri?
Daniel Farke is calling out for reinforcements to be signed before the 30 August deadline, with the manager wanting at least four new signings before the window closes [The Athletic].
Georginio Rutter’s £40million exit to Brighton is just the latest exit at Elland Road [BBC Sport], with the Whites yet to take action to replace the plethora of stars leaving during the summer window.
Having lost Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, and now Rutter, among many others, Farke has been left lacking depth in several areas of the pitch, and midfield is certainly one of them.
Given Mejbri’s previous experience in the Championship with Birmingham City, where he made 41 appearances and even scored a sensation free-kick as his only goal, he could be a quick loan solution.
The only negative about the Tunisian international is his disciplinary record. He picked up 10 yellow cards during his time at St Andrew’s Stadium and is sometimes said to be too keen to win the ball back.
The Whites will, of course, need to act quickly if they are to acquire the Man United gem’s signature, with other clubs interested before the window closes, but that is not news at Elland Road.
With just nine days remaining in the transfer window, Leeds left their business extremely late, which has caused frustration among the fans at Elland Road.
