Crystal Palace now set to have £30m bid accepted for forward after Lacroix and Araujo offers
Crystal Palace are gearing up for a busy few days in the summer transfer window as the deadline for deals is just a few days away.
The Eagles have endured a tough market so far, with stars like Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen leaving the club for new challenges.
Links have continued to surround Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta in the window’s final days too.
That has brought mounting pressure on Crystal Palace to add some new names to Oliver Glasner’s squad for the season ahead.
Chadi Riad, Daichi Kamada and Ismaila Sarr have all made the switch to Selhurst Park, but more deals are expected.
Reports suggested that Crystal Palace have made a bid for Maxence Lacroix, with hopes of adding him to the backline.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have also made an offer for Tomas Araujo as another option for the defence.
The forward ranks are still to be improved though, with Eddie Nketiah the latest target on the shortlist.
Arsenal set to accept Crystal Palace bid for Eddie Nketiah
With hopes of adding reinforcements in the striker ranks, Crystal Palace have shown interest in signing Arsenal star Nketiah.
The Eagles have been credited with interest in the England international throughout the window, but have only recently made a move to sign him.
According to a fresh report from David Ornstein in The Athletic, Palace are close to agreeing a deal with the Gunners for the striker.
The report states that Arsenal are expected to accept a bid from Crystal Palace worth up to £30million – £25million up front with £5million in add-ons.
Personal terms for the 25-year-old are expected to be met, with no issues holding up a deal in the days ahead.
Eddie Nketiah to Crystal Palace creates fresh problem
While the signing of Nketiah will add more quality to the Crystal Palace ranks, there is a fresh problem for Glasner to consider.
The centre-forward role will now be occupied by the incoming signing along with Mateta and Odsonne Edouard.
All three may struggle for game time consistently, which may lead to another potential exit before the transfer deadline.
That would most likely be Edouard, given he has just one year remaining on his contract, but it also creates a dilemma for Mateta too.
The Frenchman has just two years left on his deal at Selhurst Park and if there is no guarantee over his place in the team, it may be tough to keep him for longer.
It sets up a potentially tough balancing act for the Crystal Palace manager to deal with.
