Nashville Predators acquire David Edstrom, Magnus Chrona along with 2025 first-round pick

The Predators added Vegas’ first-round pick in the 2025 draft, which the Sharks acquired in a March 8 deadline deal that sent Tomas Hertl to the Golden Knights. The Sharks can elect to send their own draft pick instead of Vegas’ if it’s falls in the top 10 of the draft.

Nashville now has three first-round picks in the 2025 draft.

Edstrom, whom the Predators also acquired in the deal, was selected No. 32 overall in the 2023 draft by the Golden Knights. He was also traded to the Sharks as part of the Hertl deal.

Edstrom, 19, signed his three-year, entry level contract with the Sharks last summer, but he remained in Sweden to play with Frolunda in the Swedish Hockey League. As a result, his contract slid one year, so he is under contract through 2027.

Chrona, 23, was a fifth-round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2018. San Jose acquired Chrona in 2021 in exchange for forward Frederick Claesson.

Chrona has appeared in the nine NHL games, all for the Sharks, going 1-6-1 with an .859 save percentage.
