Wolves have made their decision about Joao Gomes after Tottenham show interest in signing him
Right now it seems as if Tottenham Hotspur are more focused on selling a few more players before they add to Ange Postecoglou’s squad ahead of deadline day.
Tottenham are reportedly attempting to sell both Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso before Friday’s deadline – two players not in Postecoglou’s plans.
Of course, if they are able to find buyers for the pair, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if Daniel Levy had one more trick up his sleeve this summer.
Spurs are thought to still have two more signings on their wishlist in an ideal scenario.
Postecoglou still wants to add a left-sided defender to his squad – not content with the back up for Destiny Udogie at the club right now.
And having not pressed on with their interest in Conor Gallagher or Jacob Ramsey this summer, Spurs would still like a new number eight.
Tottenham told it would take ‘huge’ bid in order to sign Joao Gomes from Wolves
As an alternative to the names mentioned above, Tottenham are interested in Joao Gomes, who’s impressed ever since he moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Tottenham are considering a late bid for Gomes according to reports, a £50m-rated Brazilian who would definitely improve their midfield.
However, journalist Liam Keen, who is an expert on all things Wolves, has just shared an update on X explaining that the club are ‘adamant’ that they will not be losing Gomes.
Wolves are in the process of signing midfielder Andre Trindade from Fluminense, but the journalist was convinced that won’t lead to a Gomes departure.
Keen shared: “Wolves categorically adamant they will not be losing Joao Gomes this summer, regardless of signing Andre. Would take a huge fee and club not entertaining it.”
Federico Chiesa rejected Tottenham for Liverpool
Rather than getting involved in any late bids before Friday’s deadline, it would currently appear a lot more sensible for Spurs to close shop and wait until January.
It’s just been shared that Federico Chiesa rejected Tottenham before signing for Liverpool this week – perhaps why the club went ahead with signing Wilson Odobert.
But if Spurs are able to offload Reguilon and Lo Celso as mentioned before the end of Friday, then it would still represent a very successful summer.
Postecoglou now has a squad that is more in his image, a team that can again be added to in January and beyond.
