The 2024 NFL Trade Deadline is nearly two weeks away with many Chicago Bears fans hoping that the team is aggressive with a move to solidify their push for a playoff spot.

Despite the 4-2 record, for the Bears, the trade deadline may be defined by the players that they are moving off their 53-man roster.

In providing a primer of where teams across the NFL land ahead of the trade deadline, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that there are two Bears’ players currently on the trading block.

The first player mentioned by Rapoport is veteran right guard Nate Davis.

  • Bears G Nate Davis: He has started two games this season and 67 in his career. A potential key depth piece for a team in need.

For the first time since signing a three-year deal with the Bears prior to the 2023 season, Davis was a healthy inactive for the Bears last Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Larry Borom and Ryan Bates set to be eligible to return from injured reserve once the Bears come back from their bye week, the team will have enough offensive line depth to move Davis.

Nate Davis and Khalil Herbert may be on the move.

In addition to Davis, the other player mentioned by Rapoport was running back Khalil Herbert.

  • Bears RB Khalil Herbert: With plenty of injuries at the position across the league, Herbert could be the subject of calls. He has flashed in previous seasons.

Earlier this week, Brad Biggs seemed to rule out the idea of the Bears moving Herbert as a way to not interrupt their depth at the running back position as well as the running back’s role on special teams. Where Bigg’s rebuttal seems to fall apart is if Travis Homer is able to return from the finger injury that landed him on IR earlier this season. His practice return window is eligible to open this week, if he does return to practice, that could lend credence to the idea Herbert may be on the move.
