Montreal Canadiens Announce Bad News Regarding Juraj Slafkovsky
In an official injury update, the Montreal Canadiens announced bad news regarding the status of the 2022 first-overall pick Juraj Slafkovsky.
Once again this season, the Montreal Canadiens have faced a few setbacks due to injuries. In the preseason, Laine and Reinbacher were injured , and recently, they lost Kaiden Guhle. Unfortunately, another important player will be sidelined in Montreal.
Slafkovsky skated earlier this morning with Rafael Harvey-Pinard, who’s been on the Long Term Injury Reserve with a broken leg since July, but unfortunate news emerged afterward.
Per Renaud Lavoie:
In an official update, the Canadiens announced that the 20-year-old forward is dealing with an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated after spending a week off the lineup.
Slafkovsky has been great so far this season on the Canadiens top line alongside Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. In six games, he tallied six points, including one goal while facing the opponents’ top lines every night.
The team hoped to get a strong start to the season to compete for a playoff spot in the spring. Unfortunately, with key players missing several games, the Habs will need to be patient. Until the injured return, or other players who had slower starts this season like Nick Suzuki or Kirby Dach find their rhythm, the Canadiens will rely on Cole Caufield, who scored six goals in six games this year, and Lane Hutson, their standout rookie, to carry the team.
They will face a tough challenge tonight as the New York Rangers will be at the Bell Center. Undefeated, the Blueshirts will look to win their fourth straight game after spending the weekend partying in Montreal. Martin St-Louis and his men will do all they can to get back on the winning track for the first time since October 12th, when they won 4-1 against the Ottawa Senators.
