Suns superstar out indefinitely with severe injury
The Phoenix Suns are 8-1 and are on a seven-game winning streak, but will be missing one of their most important superstars from weeks with an injury.
“Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant will be out with a left calf strain. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks,” the Suns said in the release.
Durant has played the first nine games of the season and has been one of the biggest reasons why the Suns are on the blistering run they are on. The two-time NBA champion is averaging 27.6 points, 6.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.
With Bradley Beal battling a right elbow strain for most of the season so far and Devin Booker playing through an illness over the past couple of days, the addition of Durant to the injury report will be an excruciating blow for Phoenix who sits tied with the Oklahoma City Thunder for first in the Western Conference at 8-1.
Now that Durant is not in the lineup for the foreseeable future, expect Ryan Dunn, Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale to compete for more minutes.
Also popping up with an injury, Jusuf Nurkić is questionable and Ryan Dunn is probable for the Suns’ clash against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday. Nurkić is currently dealing with left ankle soreness and Dunn missed Friday’s game vs. the Dallas Mavericks with a left ankle sprain.
Phoenix returns to action at home when it faces the Kings on Sunday at 6 p.m. MST.
