Commanders trade proposal sends $94 million superstar to Washington
The Washington Commanders are off to a fantastic start to the 2024 season, as the team is 4-2 and atop the NFC East. The brilliance of rookie signal-caller Jayden Daniels and Dan Quinn’s coaching staff has led to a franchise resurgence in Washington through six weeks.
Though the Commanders are flourishing in 2024, the team still boasts some glaring weaknesses, especially in the pass-rushing department.
Outside of Dorance Armstrong, Joe Whitt’s defense lacks high-end talent and production at edge rusher. Making matters worse, interior defensive lineman Jonathan Allen is lost for the season.
Due to obvious flaws in the unit, NBC Los Angeles’ Sanjesh Singh believes Washington is an ideal landing spot for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
There is close to zero chance that the Raiders trade Crosby, as the 27-year-old has reiterated that he wants to stay in Las Vegas, and owner Mark Davis scoffed at the idea of trading his star pass rusher during a press conference on Tuesday.
“Oh no, I want to trade Maxx today,” Davis joked. “It’s unfortunate today, but there’s so much outside chatter that is not true. It’s not coming from any sources. It’s not coming from anything… It’s just not happening.”
Though it is extremely unlikely that Crosby will wear a different uniform in the foreseeable future, the Commanders would be an intriguing destination for the three-time Pro Bowler.
Washington has the draft capital and cap space to construct a deal, and the team is just a few pieces away from being a championship-level team.
With Jayden Daniels on a rookie contract and not yet eligible for a lucrative extension, general manager Adam Peters must be aggressive on the player acquisition.
It likely won’t be Crosby, but the former Eastern Michigan standout would be a seamless fit in Washington and address the most pressing need on the roster.
