Bournemouth make first move to bolster attacking numbers

AFC Bournemouth were left with no first-team strikers following the news that both record signing Evanilson and Türkiye international Enes Ünal are both set for lengthy spells in the treatment room following their respective injuries.

Speculation has linked AFC Bournemouth with a potential loan move for Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, the 20-year-old Republic of Ireland forward was reportedly made available for a loan switch back in November according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

However, teamTALK have suggested that a permanent switch could be a possibility, although they add it would take “a minimum of £40million to sign him this month”.

Despite the hefty price tag “a formal enquiry to Brighton regarding Ferguson’s availability” has been made by the Cherries, with talks also held with “the player’s representatives”.

Another option, according to the same report could be Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Calvert-Lewin is out of contract at the end of the season and theoretically his personal situation could be an angle that the Cherries could take advantage of to sign him for a cut-price fee.

While those reported talks continue, AFC Bournemouth have also acted and recalled Daniel Jebbison from his loan spell at Watford.

The 21-year-old was only signed by the Cherries in July before being virtually instantly loaned out to the Championship outfit, where he made 13 appearances. The loan move has proved to be far from a successful one, so a return to the South Coast is probably best for all parties, especially in the circumstances.
