Manager ready to ‘let him go’ as Leeds United hover to sign player this month

River Plate goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma has ended up on Leeds United’s transfer agenda for the winter market.

That’s according to River Noticias, who state Leeds want to bring the 31-year-old to Elland Road.

Last summer, the stopper arrived at River Plate from Cádiz CF and played four games so far and hasn’t made an appearance since October.

River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has favoured captain Franco Armani ahead of the Leeds target last year.

Pasión Fútbol also cover Leeds’ interest in the Argentine and provide more on this case.

It’s claimed Daniel Farke’s side are ‘very interested’ in securing Ledesma’s services in the ongoing window. The report further adds that since Gallardo hasn’t relied upon the player regularly at River Plate, he is willing to ‘let him go’.

Celta Vigo and Deportivo Alavés initiated contacts to try and bring Ledesma back to Spain but didn’t make further progress.

The goalkeeper could consider leaving River Plate and returning to Europe, where the Whites are one of his interested parties.

Illan Meslier is the first-choice stopper at Leeds, with Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns as his support, and all three have deals expiring in 2026.
