Blue Jays Reportedly Eyeing Star Outfielder After Signing Anthony Santander

The Toronto Blue Jays aren’t messing around. The Blue Jays entered the offseason with Juan Soto and Roki Sasaki atop their wish list but missed out on both. But Toronto finally delivered a splash signing on Monday, agreeing to a five-year contract with Anthony Santander. Shortly after news of the Santander contract broke, MLB Network’s Jon Morosi reported the Blue Jays were looking to make another major addition to their lineup. “I don’t think they’re totally done yet,” Morosi said during a TV segment. “It wouldn’t surprise me if we see someone like a Jurickson Profar, perhaps, land with the Blue Jays. He’s another person they’ve had some interest in.

“We heard at different times names like (Pete) Alonso and (Alex) Bregman earlier on. Of course, they were involved on Juan Soto as well.” Profar, who’ll turn 32 in February, remains unsigned after authoring a career season. Appearing in 158 games for the San Diego Padres, Profar posted career highs in batting average (.280), home runs (24), RBIs (85) and OPS (.839) while tying a personal best with 10 steals. Profar primarily played across the infield early in his career but has been a full-time outfielder since 2020.
