Chelsea hold talks with Milos Kerkez, who wants Liverpool move
Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 21-year-old Hungarian international Milos Kerkez from fellow Premier League club Bournemouth this summer.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Milos Kerkez is the subject of interest from Chelsea. The Blues have already held talks with the Bournemouth left-back, with the Premier League club demanding around £40 million to part ways with him. Meanwhile, the Hungarian international is keen on joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
The rise and rise of Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth
Milos Kerkez has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League since joining Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023. The Serbia-born defender was already among the finest full-backs in the English top flight after his debut season with the Cherries, but he has come leaps and bounds in his second campaign at the Vitality Stadium.
The 21-year-old left-back has turned out over 50 times thus far for Bournemouth while chipping in with two goals and four assists. Meanwhile, Kerkez’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Hungarian international, with Chelsea and Liverpool among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. The two English giants have already held talks with the youngster’s entourage, and the player prefers a move to the Merseyside club.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Chelsea interest in Milos Kerkez makes sense. While Marc Cucurella has been excellent in the last 12 months, Enzo Maresca does not have a reliable alternative to the Spanish international. So, the Bournemouth full-back has emerged as a viable target for Chelsea.
As for Liverpool, Andrew Robertson is on the wrong side of 30, and he has shown signs of age catching up with him. In addition, Kostas Tsimikas is not good enough to be the first-choice left-back for Liverpool. So, Kerkez is an option worth considering for the Merseyside club, especially considering Bournemouth’s asking price of £40 million makes him an affordable target.
Chelsea and Liverpool should have the funds to afford a deal worth £40 million to sign the 21-year-old Hungarian international. It will be interesting to see if a move across the Premier League is on the cards for the Bournemouth defender.
