Chiefs May Pursue Bears Six-Time Pro Bowler – Ravens, Cowboys, Panthers Make More Sense
Chicago Bears impending free agent wide receiver Keenan Allen will likely bolt for a new team and Cowboys, Ravens and Panthers make sense.
The Kansas City Chiefs may pursue Bears’ impending free agent Keenan Allen this offseason to bolster their wide receiver corps. According to the source, it seems like Chicago will part ways with the veteran as he could receive interest from the Chiefs. As much as Kansas City is looking for a wide receiver, it does not make sense considering the Chiefs would be better off acquiring a much younger wideout like Cooper Kupp. With that, Allen made it clear he wants to return to the Chargers or stay with the Bears as his two primary destinations.
Originally selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the former California product is arguably one of the greatest pass catchers in the league winning the NFL Comeback Player of the Year and earning six Pro Bowl nods. It seems like retirement is on the mind of the wide receiver since he desires to stay with the Bears or head back to Los Angeles. To no surprise, he should have a market this offseason from several suitors so maybe teams could change his mind.
Kansas City might have been an excellent option for Allen if they hadn’t won a Super Bowl for at least two seasons in a row already. Since he’s likely to have a market, he should receive interest from teams like the Ravens, Cowboys and Panthers this offseason.

Super Bowl Run
If the Ravens reach out for Keenan Allen, he should have the same interest for Baltimore. The Ravens didn’t have much success in the wideout department last 2024 campaign despite trading for Diontae Johnson to bolster the unit. However, after the locker room antics, he didn’t last more than two matchups so they would indeed be better off with a veteran like Allen. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman could use his presence, especially for the postseason since he has a nice set of hands and his size could match the speed of these two receivers.
He isn’t going to be the long-term fixture for Baltimore but Allen should be beneficial for the team’s chances for at least an AFC Championship. This would help Bateman focus as the No. 3 wide receiver as a reliable slant pass catcher while Flowers and Allen are depended on for the deep routes. It would heavily improve Lamar Jackson’s passing arm who has yet to win a Super Bowl ring after winning back-to-back NFL MVP.
Other Fits
The Cowboys have yet to address the wide receiver issue for the past two seasons since trading for Brandin Cooks a couple of years ago. With Cooks likely heading elsewhere, Dallas should be in the market for a more capable wideout that assists CeeDee Lamb in the aerial attack. While they did attempt to bring in Jonathan Mingo to restore the pass-catching department, it wasn’t much help for the offense. Keenan Allen’s presence would be a significant upgrade even if he stays on the team no longer than two years.
For the Panthers, it’s hard to see Allen join them considering the landscape of Carolina still rebuilding their offense for quarterback Bryce Young. Xavier Legette and Jalen Coker are two fine and reliable starters but what they need is a veteran presence. With Adam Thielen likely to be a cut candidate, they should attempt to sign Allen on a lucrative deal if the Panthers build a promising roster to intrigue the veteran to sign with them.
