Elite 5-star OT from Texas schedules June Tennessee Vols official visit

Exciting news for Josh Heupel and the Vols.

  1. It’s getting hard to keep track of all the Tennessee Vols football prospects who will be taking official visits to Knoxville later this year. In particular, it’s looking like June is going to be downright electric, with the long list of prospects making their way to town continuing to grow.

The list now includes 5-star offensive tackle John Turntine III. Checking in at 6-4, 275 pounds, Turntine is already a beast in the trenches and 35 schools have put an offer on the table. According to 247Sports, Turntine has high interest in the Vols and what Josh Heupel is doing. So much in fact, he’ll be on campus on June 13 for the start of his official.

5-star OT John Turntine III will take a June official visit to Tennessee

We don’t have to tell you that Heupel and his coaches potentially landing Turntine isn’t going to be easy. He holds additional rides from Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Stanford, SMU, Oregon and many others.

Both Texas and Texas A&M have made a big-time impact on the youngster, with many analysts expecting the Lone Star State native to stay close to home. However, Heupel and Tennessee are giving him a lot to think about with plenty of time left before a decision is made.

Turntine is the definition of elite prospect. He’s ranked five stars, the No. 3 offensive tackle in the country, No. 1 player out of Texas and No. 15 playmaker nationally for the 2026 class. It’s no surprise that he’s receiving so much recruiting attention, as he has a bright future at the next level.

Thus far, he has locked in officials with Tennessee and Texas A&M, but more trips will surely be on the way for him. As of this writing, the Vols hold seven known pledges for the ’26 group, including 5-star quarterback Faizon Brandon. Tennessee is going to need stud linemen to keep Brandon on his feet from start to finish during his career in the SEC. Getting Turntine to block for him sure has a nice ring to it.
