Cannon suffered a knee injury and had to be stretchered off during Wrexham’s 2-1 win over Mansfield Town in League One last Sunday. On Tuesday, the club confirmed that the player met with a specialist and will now undergo surgery on his ruptured ACL next week. As the midfielder’s season ended on a tragic note, he took to social media and thanked club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and also vowed to come back stronger.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 28-year-old joined the Red Dragons in 2022 and has been an integral part of the teams that gained back-to-back promotions to League One. In the 2024/25 campaign, Cannon has appeared in 28 matches across all competitions and has scored four goals. His injury comes as a major blow for the Welsh side, who are aiming to gain another promotion to the Championship.
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
While the midfield star awaits his surgery, Phil Parkinson’s side are next in action in the semi-final of the Football League Trophy on Wednesday at home to Peterborough United.
